What you need to know about the COVID-19 vaccine for Canada

Update April 2022

As of March 31, 2022 we have extended COVID-related safety measures at all Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre locations to the end of May. During this time, we will continue to limit public access to our sites as we continue to plan for a safe reopening.

Virtual and hybrid programming will continue with some outdoor programming beginning once the weather allows. We are still assessing our programs and working on a plan to safely begin opening our sites and programs to align with changing guidelines and prioritize the health and safety of our staff and community.

The Urban Indigenous COVID Vaccination Centre will close April 16, 2022. For more location options please visit the Manitoba Vaccine Finder. If you need support in booking an appointment or accessing your appointment, please give us a call at 204-599-6551.

The Urban Indigenous Rapid Testing Site will remain open until the end of May. Please visit www.mamawi.com/rts for more information and hours.

As of June 31, 2021 we have extended COVID-related safety measures at all Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre locations to the end of August. During this time, we will continue to limit public access to our sites as well as limit staff on-site when possible.

Virtual programming will continue with some outdoor youth programming pending current restrictions and weather. We are assessing our programs and working on a plan to safely begin opening our sites and programs to align with changing guidelines and prioritize the health and safety of our staff and community.

As of April 1, 2021, we have extended COVID-related safety measures at all Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre locations to June 31, 2021. During this time, we will continue to limit public access to our sites as well as limit staff on-site when possible.

Virtual programming will continue. We are assessing our programs and working on a plan to safely begin opening our sites and programs to align with changing guidelines and prioritize the health and safety of our staff and community.

Update February 2021

As of February 12, 2021, we have extended COVID-related safety measures at all Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre locations to March 31, 2021. During this time, we will continue to limit public access to our sites as well as limit staff on-site when possible. Please note that we have also moved from 445 King Street to 547 Notre Dame Avenue while we prepare the King office for new programming. Update January 2021

The Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre has extended our Critical Level Red safety measures to February 12, 2021. We are restricting public access to our sites as well as limiting the number of staff on-site when possible. Virtual programming will continue for Spirit of Peace and Youth Programs. Update December 2020

We are continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation and have been taking measures on the advice of the province. We have been limiting staff physically on-site at all of our locations since the province entered Critical Level Red in mid-November. All current programming has moved to virtual including Spirit of Peace and Youth Programs. If you have questions about current programming, please contact us at 204-925-0300.

Its important to stay informed through accurate and credible sources. The province has developed the #RestartMB Pandemic Response System to share current information with Manitobans about risk, response and recommended actions. In addition, Manitoba public health officials have issued public health orders to help reduce the risk and prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please visit the State of Emergency page to see how these orders affect you. 


We take the risk of our community, staff, volunteers, and the children we care for seriously. As of March 19, 2020 we have reduced public access at all of our locations until further notice. We will continue providing emergency supports and services as needed while adhering to the current COVID-19 restrictions set out by the province.

We are in need of volunteer delivery drivers for our Emergency Food Program!

Hampers are packed and ready for pick-up from 575 Larsen Ave. by 1:30 PM Monday to Saturday and need to be delivered throughout the city.

If you have continuing availability we would love for you to join our family of weekly volunteers. Your help is greatly appreciated!


Emergency Food Program

We are accepting applications for the Emergency Food Program by phone only. Phone lines are open Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Deliveries are made Monday to Saturday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
