Position Title: Positive Athletic Cultural Experience (P.A.C.E.) Coordinator
Classification: Part Time Monday- Friday 3 pm -8 pm
Location: Turtle Island Community Centre
Salary: To be negotiated
Background:
The PACE Coordinator will encourage opportunities for youth to enjoy a healthy lifestyle, to help youth express their cultural identities with a context of support and learning. The Coordinator will focus on the strengths and talents of Indigenous youth while reconnecting them to a larger community. The Coordinator will respect and promote Indigenous cultures and communities, including language, history, customs, traditions, self-identity values and heritage.
Qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining an effective working relationship with Indigenous and non-Indigenous non-mandated organizations.
- Strong motivational and leadership skills.
- Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with staff, other agencies, and the public.
- Respectful to engage people and build helpful relationships.
- Flexible to respond effectively and positively in diverse relationships.
- Maintain a high level of independence and self-initiative.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions.
- Understanding of Indigenous customs, experiences, traditions, and values is an asset.
- Recreational Technical experience.
- Ability to supervise, organize and assist the Youth Monitors in planning activities for youth.
- Possess current CPR /First Aid and NVCI Certificates.
- Ability in preparing reports/evaluation of the PACE program in a timely manner.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding Indigenous and Community issues.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license is an asset.
- Current Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry and Prior Contact Checks required.
