Position: Youth Mentor
Classification: Full-Time (Monday – Friday / 12am-8am)
Location: Luke’s Place

Background:
The Ma Mawi Chi Itata Centre, Inc. is seeking an individual for the Youth Mentor position. Luke’s Place strives to provide a nurturing and safe environment for young males ages 11-14 years old. The site is a six-bed facility that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and offers a range of assessment and support services. Luke’s Place is a safe and nurturing environment where young men will have the opportunity to experience a strong sense of caring, support and encouragement while building the capacity to achieve their goals and dreams.
Qualifications:
- Child & Youth Care Diploma or acceptable equivalent and related experience.
- Residential Care experience would be an asset.
- Supporting caseload and healing plans and implementing them with the adolescent males.
- Provide support/supervision to the residents.
- Program development and facilitation skills.
- Needs to have the ability to work cooperatively with others and contribute as a team member.
- Ability to work under stressful situations.
- Knowledge of Child Welfare Legislation and Standards.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Understanding of Indigenous values and community issues.
- First Aid/ CPR and NVCI certificates.
- Must have a valid driver’s licence (Class 5).
- Must provide a current (within last three months) Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Query, Child Abuse Registry Check and be subject to a prior contact check.
